ADAM Murray is not surprised with the strong start Oxford United have made to the season.

The 33-year-old played 92 games for the U’s after joining in 2008, but comes up against them tomorrow as Mansfield Town manager.

Michael Appleton’s men are unbeaten in their four games this season and Murray (pictured) expected nothing less.

He told the Mansfield Chad: “I should hope so with the players they’ve signed.

“There are some very good players and it’s a big club, a very big club.

“Their aim has got to be top three this season I would imagine, so it’s another good test for us but one we feel we can get something out of.

“They have signed players that can affect this level, but we are not going into it with any fear.”

Mansfield were excellent in winning 2-0 at Notts County a week ago, but lost 1-0 at Accrington Stanley on Tuesday.

Murray, who scored the winner in last season’s fixture, said: “We are a little bit up and down at the moment.

“It does show there is still work to do, but the group is positive.

“We are not saying ‘let’s scrape through to mid-table’.

“We want to be up there and this group can do that.”
