JAMES Roberts scored a hat-trick as Oxford United ran out 10-0 winners in a one-sided development game with Kidderminster Harriers.

Patrick Hoban and Josh Ashby scored two each, while Canice Carroll, AJ George and Aidan Hawtin also notched in a confident display.

Ashby set the tone by scoring twice inside the opening seven minutes of the game, played on the 3G surface at Court Place Farm.

The midfielder curled a beautiful shot into the top corner, before doubling the lead with a tidy finish from Hoban's pass.

It was one-way traffic for United, with Hoban and Freddie Grant testing the Harriers goalkeeper.

Carroll finally made it 3-0 eight minutes before the break, heading home at a corner, and Hoban stretched the lead before half-time with a smart finish.

The goals continued to flow after the break.

George tapped in on the rebound after Roberts had a shot parried to make it 5-0 three minutes after the restart.

Hoban added a sixth goal, his second, with a quickly-taken free-kick after the goalkeeper handled just outside the area to deny Roberts.

The Irishman turned provider to make it 7-0 with a surging run into the box, crossing to give Aidan Hawtin a tap-in.

Roberts finally got his reward for a busy display by tucking a shot in off the far post midway through the half.

He added another from the penalty spot in the 79th minute after George had been fouled to complete the scoring.

The striker completed the scoring late on to round off his haul.
