JOHN Lundstram knows Oxford United need to convert dominant performances at home into victories if they want to be in the promotion shake-up, writes DAVID PRITCHARD.

The U’s created the lion’s share of the chances, but could not find a way past a dogged Morecambe side who held on for a goalless stalemate.

It was the second successive draw at the Kassam Stadium, after Portsmouth’s trip ended 1-1, and Lundstram was again left frustrated.

He said: “It’s similar to the last few weeks.

“If we want to be promotion contenders we’ve got to be winning games like that.

“We’ve had the chances and again it’s not our day.

“The back four lads have got to be happy with their display against a big tough striker who is experienced in this league (Kevin Ellison).

“We dealt with him fine and didn’t have any problems, but at the other end we just couldn’t convert.”

United have lost just once at home since January, but nine of those 15 games have ended all square.

Lundstram knows finding a winning formula against teams who pack men behind the ball is going to be vital this season.

He added: “Teams know how good we are and are coming here and sitting off, going for a point.

“That shows teams are fearing us and credit to them, they’ve come here with a game plan and have the result they wanted.

“We’ve got to work on that and be prepared for teams to do that.”
