DORCHESTER put league form to the back of the minds to edge Westminster 6-5 on penalties and avoid an early exit in the first round of the North Berks Charity Shield.

Josh Bourton and Kieron Hughes strikes for North Berks League Division 2 side Westminster were cancelled out by Jack Rowe and Alex Kerry.

The Division 1 club, yet to gain a point in the league, then secured their passage in the shoot-out.

Ben Hummell netted for East Hendred, but could not stop his side from losing 3-1 to Division 2 leaders Burghclere.

In the North Berks League Cup, Ollie Bailey (2) and Jason O’Hanlon helped Division 4 pacesetters Stanford in the Vale Reserves beat Watlington Town 3-0.

Meanwhile, Crowmarsh Gifford bounced back from their Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup exit with a 2-0 victory over Long Wittenham Athletic.

Jefferson Harriott and Tim Holton scored for Crowmarsh.

In Division 2, Jamie Tuck grabbed a brace as Stanford in the Vale returned to the top with a 4-1 win over Watlington Town.

Jamie McGahey and Sam Roberts scored the other goals, while Bertie Proctor netted for Watlington.

Rhys Griffiths struck twice and Lewis Collacott also netted as Sutton Courtenay won 3-1 at Marcham, who had Jamie Saulter on the scoresheet.

Liam Eltham hit a hat-trick to help East Hendred Reserves to a 5-0 victory at Kennington Athletic in Division 4.

Neil Cheshire and Jordan Pacey added the other two goals.

ST BIRINUS, Didcot, won the Vale of White Horse Schools FA indoor five-a-side competition at Faringdon Community College.

Birinus won Group A with Faringdon runners up, while Fitzharrys took Group B from Larkmead.

In the semi finals, St Birinus beat Larkmead 1-0 and Fitzharrys overcame Faringdon 1-0.

In the final, St Birinus beat Fitzharrys 2-0 with goals from Freddie Kennedy and Oliver Tyler.
