JONATHAN Cornish continued his fine form to win the fourth round of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League at Cirencester on Sunday.
The White Horse Harrier took victory in 34mins 17secs, ahead of Newbury’s Alex Muir.
It sees Cornish lead the senior men’s individual standings by 11 points, with a real chance of clinching the overall title in the final round at Harwell on March 6.
Abingdon’s Paul Fernandez heads the Vet 40 standings after finishing third overall, while Radley’s Alex Miell-Ingram made the top 20 in 17th.
In the under 15/17 race, Jack Shayler (Abingdon) was the first south Oxfordshire athlete home in third, leading his club to take team honours.
Rowan Miell-Ingram (Radley) was second in the under 13 event.
Radley dominated the under 11 competition, with Quinn Miell-Ingram, Johnny James and William D’Arcy finishing second, third and fourth respectively.
In the senior women’s race, Emma Huepfl, of Radley, led the way for the south Oxfordshire clubs by crossing in 16th place.
She was one place ahead of Abingdon’s Julia James, who helped her finish come second.
White Horse Harrier Lucy Rycroft came second as Radley A took the team honours in the under 15/17 race.
Abingdon’s Beth Darwent was fourth in the under 13 competition.
This helped the Abingdon team to come third.
