GROVE ended their season in defeat as they were beaten 27-7 at local rivals Oxford Harlequins.

The south Oxfordshire side, who confirmed their South West 1 East safety the previous week, finished tenth in the league table.

Quins, unbeaten at home all season, took a 22-0 lead in the first hour, with two tries from centre Jack Crowe and one from fly half Ollie Jenner who added two conversions and a penalty.

Grove’s Danny Crook took advantage of a Jack Robinson error to cross on 77 minutes. Joe Chilvers converted.

Quins still had time to secure the four-try bonus point as prop Pete Boulton crashed over.

In Southern Counties North, Wallingford finished fifth despite ending their campaign with a 15-10 defeat at home to Aylesbury.

Their points came from a try from winger Dan Sadler plus a conversion and penalty from Phil Dawes.

Abingdon came fourth in the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Premier after John Hughes and Robert Tyreman both crossed twice in a 45-39 win at Wheatley.

James Webb, Dale Cross and Jamie Cummings also went over. Chris Stables kicked four conversions and a penalty.

In the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Championship, second-placed Didcot lost 32-17 at champions Phoenix.
