CHALLOW & Childrey remain unbeaten and top of Cherwell League Division 2 after a comprehensive six-wicket victory against visitors Great & Little Tew 2nd.

Markus Jeacock hit 80 for Tew before being stumped by Mark Foster off the bowling of Luke Cheshire took 3-30 from ten overs as the visitors reached 217-8.

But the hosts were able to chase down the total with seven overs to spare.

Challow openers Justin Penrose (41) and John Pechey (50) put on 94 for the first wicket.

Penrose fell for 41 when he was trapped lbw by Ian Bryan, while Pechey was out soon after for 50.

Challow pressed on, with captain Ryan Gordon hitting an unbeaten half-century off just 48 balls as they reached 218-4 in the 42nd over to secure maximum points.

Abingdon Vale eased to an eight-wicket win at home after skittling Wolverton for just 81.

Graham Charlesworth claimed 4-23, while Paul White took 3-12.

Amith Premkumar hit 41 not out in Vale’s reply to lead his side to 82-2 in just 13.2 overs.

Blewbury & Wallingford edged past visitors Banbury 3rd by one wicket in Division 3.

Colin Allen (3-27) and Scott Harris (3-51) combined to dismiss Banbury for 175 in 46 overs, before Warren Ainsworth (39no) led Blewbury to the narrowest of victories as they reached 177-9.

Didcot held firm to claim a draw with hosts Oxford 2nd.

Jordan Morrison took 3-53 as the home side reached 224-8 in their 53 overs and Simon Pritchard hit 65 in reply for Didcot, who finished on 196-9.

In Division 5, Didcot 2nd saw off Chearsley by two wickets.

Chearsley set 226-6 in their 53 overs, but Jim Head (51), Kieran Beesley (40) and Kunal Patel (37no) led Didcot to victory at 230-8 with five balls to spare.

Abingdon Vale 2nd beat hosts Leighton Buzzard Town 2nd by six runs in a low-scoring affair.

Vale were skittled for just 63 in 28.3 overs, with Gareth Benger grabbing 7-24 for the home side, but Dan Hartley took figures of 5-14 in reply as Buzzard were shot out for 57.

Kingston Bagpuize lost by 14 runs to leaders Thame Town 2nd.

Richard Carr (57) and Liam Evans (41) saw visitors Thame to 200-9 declared in 47 overs.

The extra overs came in useful as they bowled out the hosts in the 51st over for 186, Toby Ricks top-scoring with 51.

Tom Scrase’s unbeaten 115 was in vain for Kingston Bagpuize 2nd as they fell to a seven-wicket defeat at Abingdon Vale 4th in Division 9 South.

Scrase helped Kingston to 175-6 in their 45 overs, but Richard Matthews (82no) led Vale to 179-3.
