LEADERS Faringdon were brought crashing down to earth with a humiliating defeat at Yarnton & Cowley in OCA League Division 1 on Saturday.

Faringdon dismissed their hosts for 138, Nigel Hume leading the way with 5-38.

But they had no answer to the bowling of Muaz Ahmed (6-11) and Mohammed Zia Hameed (3-9) as they were shot out for just 47 to crash to their first defeat of the season.

Shrivenham saw off hosts Oxenford by 24 runs.

Batting first, Shrivenham were all out for 159, James Harris hitting 36 not out and Habeel Khalid taking 4-46.

Youngster Charan Chahal then claimed 4-48 as Oxenford fell for 135.

Radley fell to an eight-run defeat at home to Great Horwood.

Sam Willett hit 109 in Horwood’s 240-6, before Olly Prendergast (4-45) and Haydon Morrison (3-64) combined to dismiss the hosts for 232, Amir Faruq hitting 72 and Abdur Rashid Khan 64.

Division 2 leaders East & West Hendred marched on with a four-wicket win over visitors Cairns Fudge.

Jon Francis took 4-35 to restrict Fudge to 163, despite 98 from Tom Small, before reached 167-6.

Clifton Hampden skittled out Marsh Gibbon for just 58 to wrap up a 126-run victory.

Richard Beard (77) and Morley Benson (50) helped Clifton set 184-6, before the home side fell for just 58 David Skinner taking and Julian Hitchman 3-10.

Wootton & Boars Hill slipped to a two-run defeat at home to Wolvercote.

The visitors posted 253-7 in their 45 overs as Darren Jones and Ben Proctor each scored 56.

Shaun Morton’s 98 not out led Wootton’s reply, but they fell for 251 .

In Division 3, Marcham were dismissed for 101, and Nikunj Patel (55no) led the way as Tetsworth cruised to 103-1 in quick time.

Sunningwell slipped to a 105-run loss at Watlington in Division 4.

The home side posted 205 all out, Owen Lewis top-scoring with 39. Chris Little (4-15) and Neil Maguire (4-19) then bowledSunningwell out for 100.

Dorchester crawled to 121-7 in their 45 overs at home to Minster Lovell 2nd, Steve McComb contributing 70 not out before Minster replied with 123-2.

Britwell Salome picked up their second win, running out 53-run victors at Garsington in Division 5.

After being bowled out for 139, Britwell dismissed their hosts for just 86 as Zaffir Hussain took 4-30.

Kennington kept their promotion challenge on track with a five-run win at home to Hook Norton.

Russell Vircavs hit 35 in his side’s 106 all out, before claiming 4-16 as Hook Norton were bowled out for 101.

Radley 2nd stayed second in Division 6, courtesy of a 140-run win at home to Hanney.

Davison Matthews (62) and Rezwan Rana (60no) led the way in Radley’s 245-4, before Richard Cook, who had contributed 48 not out with the bat, claimed 4-26 as Hanney fell to 105 all out.

Scott Winskill’s unbeaten century helped Shrivenham 2nd to a two-wicket win against visitors Kidlington 2nd.

Simon Smith (80no) allowed Kidlington to set 168-8 in their 45 overs.

But Winskill scored exactly 100 not out to steer his side to 169-8, despite 6-66 from Sam Milburn.

Wootton & Boars Hill 2nd came away from Hanborough 2nd with a four-wicket win in Division 7.

The hosts racked up 235-5 in their 45 overs, Daniel Burgess hitting 65 and Richard Taylor 47 not out.

But the target was reached with six wickets down by Wootton, for whom Nik King hit 48 not out and Omar Hussain 47.

In Division 8, Marcham 2nd were thankful to 48 not out from 12-year-old Ethan Davie in their 42 run win at home to Chalgrove.

Davies’ mature knock helped Marcham to a meagre 99 all out, but it proved enough as Richard Wightman (4-19) and Deepak Patel (3-25) combined to rip through Chalgrove for 57.

Hanney set hosts Hook Norton 2nd 295 all out in Division 9, only to fall to a seven-wicket defeat.

Steve Lewis hammered 147 for Hanney in their huge total.

But Grant Wallis’s brilliant 168 not out led Hooky to 296-3.

Hanney 2nd crashed out of the Osberton Radiators Cup in the semi-final after a nine-wicket defeat against Yarnton & Cowley 2nd on Sunday.
