OXFORD United received mixed fitness news this morning as several players recovered from minor problems while concerns remain over Alex MacDonald.

The winger picked up a hip injury ten days ago during the 1-0 defeat to Marbella and remains on the sidelines.

Results from a scan on Saturday are due shortly, but MacDonald will definitely miss tomorrow night's friendly against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Kassam Stadium.

It did appear as though other players would also be doubts for the game after a threadbare training session on Saturday.

But with the exception of MacDonald the rest of the group, including Liam Sercombe, whose X-ray on an inflamed heel showed up nothing serious, were all involved this morning.

U's head coach Michael Appleton said: "We had eight senior players train on Saturday morning.

"It was a little bit of a worry, but all of a sudden four or five of them have come in and are training this morning.

"Sercs's X-ray was very normal, so we’re happy about that.

"Macca is a little bit more complicated.

"He’s still got a problem with his hip and is the only one not training this morning.

"He’s got no chance for tomorrow."
