JAMIE Cook is no stranger to big FA Cup matches, but admits springing a shock this weekend would be particularly sweet.

The striker has played in many high-profile games, taking on Chelsea and Manchester United while at Oxford United and Crawley Town respectively.

Although North Leigh’s trip to Eastleigh is not likely to make headlines, it could be another memorable occasion for Cook.

It is the first time the Millers have made the fourth qualifying round, and a match against their high-flying Vanarama National League hosts gives Cook an opportunity to renew acquaintances with two ex-United teammates.

A knee injury is hindering his prospects of being fit, but if he does feature, the 37-year-old could come up against James Constable and Ryan Clarke.

The chance to test himself against them one more time is something Cook craves.

“I think we can give them a good game and I’m desperate to play against them,” he said.

“We’ve been good friends for a long time now, so it’ll be nice to see them again.

“Clarkey is a fantastic keeper and everybody knows how good Beano (Constable) is and what a threat he poses.”

Cook played in Oxford’s fourth-round clash with Chelsea in 1999, as well as for Crawley against Manchester United in the fifth round in 2011.

Now he is keen to be involved in another big match.

“Most of the best memories I have from my career are from the FA Cup and now the rest of the lads have an opportunity to make their own,” he said.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play at places like Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and Elland Road in this competition.

“So obviously it holds a lot of very special memories for me. It’s just one of those magical competitions which creates so many great moments.

“I don’t see why we can’t get a result. We’ve seen bigger upsets in the past.”

North Leigh warmed up for the match with a 4-1 win over Bridgwater Town in their Buildbase FA Trophy preliminary round replay on Tuesday.

Goals from Roger James (2), Morgan Williams and George Seacole secured a trip to Yate Town in the next round.
