DEPLETED Letcombe, who had assistant manager Luke Stone playing at centre-back, went down 2-1 away to Easington Sports in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 West.

A mix-up at the back allowed Andrew Stidder to give Easington the lead.

The visitors’ keeper Danny Joyce then did well to tip a fierce drive from Stidder over the bar.

The hosts doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Arron Ducanth cut in from the right to shoot inside the far post.

Letcombe pulled a goal back within two minutes, Andy Goodchild providing the pass for Jordan Davies to race clear and drive home a low shot. But they could not score again.

After winning all four league games, scoring 11 goals and conceding none, Birinus beat King Alfred’s Academy, Wantage, 2-0 in the final with goals from Casey Highmoor and Harry Evans.
