Pep Clotet calls on Oxford United to produce 90-minute displays following MK Dons draw

The visitors had a more convincing claim to the three points, given the clarity of chances they created in the final few minutes.

United deservedly led through Rob Hall’s third goal in five days, which came in a dominant first 25 minutes.

However, the Dons readjusted and got on top for much of a 40-minute period either side of half-time.

Clotet was encouraged by the quality of his side’s football at times, but felt the result showed they were not the finished article.

He said: “We are a little bit disappointed we couldn’t end up winning the game, but we are happy with the way we got this point – with really good football.

“Unfortunately, we cannot do it still for long enough.

“We managed to come here and dominate the first half and at the end we finished very strongly.

“We had chances to take the three points, but we take one and it’s a good point away from home in this league.”

He added: “We are building slowly and it’s normal you don’t have all the focus to sustain it for 90 minutes.

“The good thing is everyone’s on track and the players are enjoying the football.”

There was a real style about Hall’s goal.

The winger was playing at Stadium MK for the first time since a loan spell two seasons ago was brought to an abrupt end by a serious knee injury.

Hall was booed throughout by the home fans and clearly enjoyed his celebration.

Clotet said: “I always like to put in the players who were here before, because they have this extra (point) to prove or show.

“I think he managed it very well.”

The U’s boss also paid tribute to the travelling fans.

He said: “It was fantastic.

“To have 3,000 away from home is not something many clubs can achieve.

“We are delighted to see the support and we’re very sad they couldn’t leave with three points, but at a lot of moments in the game they gave us the extra effort.

“They are really loyal and it says a lot about the club.”
