AFTER his gold medal at the first qualifying event for the British Championships, Ben Goodall has been added to the national senior men’s tumbling squad.

The Harwell gymnast, who had previously been part of the Great Britain junior set-up, will now train with the nine-strong senior squad at Lilleshall.

He is attending his first weekend training camp this weekend.

After recently presenting the sports awards at his old school, King Alfred’s Academy, Wantage, Goodall continues to work hard on his tumbling.

A student in Bournemouth, he trains at gyms in Poole and at Milton Keynes, when at home, as he looks to increase the difficulty value of his runs.

Working with two Great Britain coaches across the two gyms has helped with progression.

“Sharing videos has been great for getting the views of two coaches,” said Goodall, who balances his gym work with his studies to become a chiropractor.

He is preparing for two British Championships qualifiers in June, while the finals are being held in September.

In between, there is a trip to Portugal for the Scalabais Cup in July as part of a three-strong British team.

In a non-funded sport, he is looking out for financial support.
