ONE of the Cowley Workers ODDA’s longest winning runs came to an end on the first day of the new Summer League campaign – and it coincided with a change of name.

Kidlington Green Social Club had gained 44 successive victories in both summer and winter competitions.

But that run ended when the side, now known as Bicester Ex-Services Club, went down 5-4 away to Challow RBL in Premier & Section 1.

Playing the pairs first, the hosts took a 2-1 lead into the singles.

But Bicester hit back to lead 4-3 with wins from Neal Russell, Sean Holly, who shot a 180 plus the week’s top outshot of 160, and Joe Palmer, Kevin Wilkins replying for Legion.

However, victories from Rhys Kerry and Dan Wyatt , who claimed two 180s, ended the visitors’ long winning run

Bell Inn went down 5-4 at home to TJs Club A (formerly Cowley Workers A), who led 2-1 after the pairs.

The hosts levelled at 2-2 when Richard Carter hit two maximums in the first singles.

TJs hit back to lead 4-2 through Terry Woods (180) and Aaran Stevens, but the home side made it 4-4 thanks to Scott Mercer-Rolls and Brian Grant, before Geordie Grant won the decider for TJs.

Queens Head, unbeaten for 24 matches over two seasons, went down 6-3 away to Cricketers Arms A in Section 2.
