YOUNGSTER Dominic Whinfrey produced an extraordinary innings to help Sunningwell to a ten-wicket victory at home to Uffington in the first round of the OCA League’s Telegraph Cup

The 17-year-old bludgeoned an incredible 140 not out from just 49 deliveries as Sunningwell chased down Uffington’s 185-5 inside 16 overs.

Whinfrey hit 16 sixes and eight fours, one of his huge maximums smashing a car windscreen.

Batting first, Martin Key’s 74 and 52 from Joe Braham helped Uffington to what appeared to be a reasonable competitive total.

But Whinfrey and Nigel Lovell (40no) made light work of the target to claim victory in double quick time at 12 runs per over.

Marcham crashed to a 120-run defeat at Combe.

Chris Moore (58no) led the hosts to 206-4, before veteran Dave Gardner’s 7-44 haul sent Marcham crashing to 86 all out.

In the Airey Cup, Wootton & Boars Hill went down for four wickets at home to Stanton Harcourt.

There were four half-centuries in Wootton’s 244-3, Jack Ulyatt hitting 58 not out, Billy Webb 56, Ollie Morton 50 not out and Shaun Morton 50.

But then Ollie Pascoe (74), Ryan Wastie (66no) and Arun White (56) led Stanton to 245-6 and a place in the second round.

Faringdon lost at home to Wolvercote by eight wickets.

Barkat Ahmed’s 5-25 helped to dismiss the hosts for 132, Will Oglesby hitting 56.

Tim MacIntyre then struck 77 not out in Wolvercote’s 136-2.

East & West Hendred went down by five wickets at home to Yarnton & Cowley.

An unbeaten 63 for Muhammad Younis led the visitors home.

Meanwhile, Watlington saw off visitors Tetsworth by six wickets.

In the Steve Dixon Memorial Cup, Wootton & Boars Hill 2nd eased to a 57-run win at Chesterton.

Johnnie Fisher hit 72 not out as Wootton posted 206-9, Jimmy Appleton taking 4-19.

Chesterton were all out for 149 in reply, Pete Talbot hitting 63 and Rubban Gill taking 4-34.

Sunningwell lost by seven wickets at Stanton Harcourt 2nd in the first round of the Osberton Radiators Cup.

Andy Walker took 4-27 in Sunningwell’s 135 all out, and then Drew Tweedy scored 37 not out in Stanton’s 136-3.

Harwell International beat Kilkenny 2nd by seven wickets.

In Division 2, Clifton Hampden beat hosts Wantage by five wickets.

Chasing Wantage’s 154 all out, Clifton reached 155-5 thanks to Morley Benson’s 58 not out.

Tom Cannon and Lalit Chablani starred for Steventon in their 148-run victory over Deddington in Division 4.

Steventon posted 179-9 in their 45 overs, but Cannon then took 5-16 and Chablani 4-5 as Deddington were shot out for 31.

Radley restricted Shrivenham to 163-8.

Then Abbas Younus hit 75 to steer Radley to 166-6 with three balls left in a nail-biter.

In Division 5, East & West Hendred 2nd beat hosts Swinbrook by 25 runs.

Andy Broadbent top-scored with 56 in Hendred’s 166 all out, Liam Walker taking 4-32.

Wily veterans Pete Beckley (4-45) and septuagenarian Peter Baring (4-46) then combined to bowl Swinbrook out for 141.

West Ilsley took a pasting from Brill, who racked up a massive

326-5 in a 165-run victory.

Leading the way was Jeremy Mansfield, who hit 94, while Andy Wynd struck 83, Andy Parke 68 not out and Dale Sweetman 51.

Darren Kavanagh then took 4-38 as West Ilsley fell for 161.

Chalgrove eased past hosts Dorchester 2nd in Division 6 by 77 runs.

Nicolas Little (62), Heath Cooper (58no) and Ben Little (53) helped Chalgrove to 240-5 in their 45 overs, before Dorchester were restricted to 163-7.

Faringdon brushed aside hosts Marcham 2nd by eight wickets in Division 7 South.

Matthew Brooker was the star, taking 3-11 in Marcham’s 74 all out, before scoring 57 in his side’s 75-2.

A fine spell of 4-15 by Mark Taylor helped Watlington 2nd to a six-wicket win at Steventon 2nd.
