LEADING rugby and cricket celebrities helped raise more than £16,000 for charity at the Sporting Legends Tournament, held at The Springs Club, near Wallingford.

The 18-hole Texas Scramble tournament, at the club operated by Darwin Escapes, was attended by rugby World Cup winner Will Greenwood, ex- Welsh rugby star Scott Quinnell and All Black legend Zinzan Brooke as well as English cricketers Matthew Hoggard, Monty Panesar and Nick Gubbins.

A total of £16,500 was raised for ReachOut UK – a mentoring organisation working with disadvantaged young people.

  • FRILFORD Heath suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Ellesborough in Section 1 of the Core Golf UK Oxfordshire Foursomes League.

Their one point came from Dean Newbold and Ashley Walton, who won 3 & 2 against Phil Cuthbert and Luke Richardson.
