WANTAGE’S Taekwondo School Vale TKD are celebrating after finishing top in the first London Open Colour Belt Team Championships.
The school’s 23 competitors – 21 colour belts and two black belts – collected an impressive four gold medals, five silvers and three bronzes at Guildford Spectrum.
Black belts competed in a standard individual event, with Charlie Rhodes collecting two golds and a silver in the junior patterns, sparring and special technique division.
This led to him winning the overall black belt competitor award.
His sister, Gabriella Rhodes, was close behind with a gold in sparring, a bronze in patterns and the special technique event.
Sami Grimes also collected individual honours when he won bronze in the special technique event for flying distance kicks.
The school’s chief instructor Carl Davis said: “I am extremely proud for all of Vale TKD competitors.
“The students attitude throughout the day was spectacular – very disciplined, which resulted in us winning overall.”
Being a charity event, all funds raised went to Cancer Research.
