A classy 87 from Ben Humpage in bowler-friendly conditions set up Abingdon Vale's 29-run home win over Leighton Buzzard Town in Division 2 of The Oxford Times Cherwell League.

The other Vale batsmen struggled against Antony Francis (5-70) and Tom Light (4-27) as they were bowled out for 190.

Philip Whatmore's 47 gave Town some hope, but veteran left arm seamer Danny Hartley (3-39) and Mike Cook (3-57) helped bowl out the visitors for 161.

All-rounder James Phillips took 5-40 and then hit an unbeaten 43 to take Challow & Childrey to an easy win over Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts and top spot in the table.

Put in to bat, Nondies were bundled out for 135, and they would not have made three figures without Pablo Mukherjee's 63.

Olly Dimbylow took 3-25 for Challow, and the result was never in doubt once Phillips and Nick Meadows (70) put on 106 for the first wicket in their reply.

Kingston Bagpuize appear to have turned the corner after making it two wins out of two at Hanborough in Division 3.

Rob Lovick (80) and Michael Dove (56) helped Hanborough to a competitive 204-9.

Arthur Verdin took 4-65 for Kingston and then watched Martin Shepherd hit exactly 100 and Andrew Howard 54 as the visitors enjoyed a four-wicket win. Craig Wood took 4-73 for Hanborough.

The pitch was the only winner in Challow & Childrey 2nd's match at Oxford Downs 2nd as 468 runs were scored for ten wickets.

Tom Crouch hit 120 as Downs racked up 264-4, before Nigel Hume (63) took Challow to 204-6.

Abingdon Vale 2nd thrashed Aston Rowant 2nd by 78 runs to shatter their hosts' 100 per cent winning start in Divison 5.

Skipper Dave Ward led from the front with a quickfire 71 before Michael Howe-Davies (75no) guided Vale's total to 248-9.

Chris Eaton's 59 took Rowant to 132-2, but seamer Robin Newman then claimed 6-35 as they crashed to 170 all out.

Didcot escaped with a draw from their long trip to face Leighton Buzzard Town 2nd, who racked up 250-6 after being put into bat.

Leighton's Tarrun Mistry (64), Craig Wakefield (58no) and Chris Thompson (52) all took a liking to the visitors' attack.

Didcot's Andrew Broughton hit 47 and Shaun Burningham 46, but their innings ended 55 runs adrift on 195-8.

Ali Damirchi took 6-24 and Colin Allen 4-8 as Wallingford shot out Bourton Vale 2nd for the humiliating score of just 35 in 21.4 overs in Division 6 Yet between the innings, Vale would have fancied their chances after they had dismissed the home side for just 140, Rob Langley taking 5-42.

The result puts Wallingford 24 points clear at the top.

Adam Shorten took 5-49 as Cumnor were dismissed for 188, before Garry Cook (91) and Jordan Ford (44) guided Vale home.
