Didcot Town had another day to forget as they crashed to a 4-0 defeat to the Evo-Stik Division 1 South & West promotion-chasers.

It was the seventh time Didcot have lost at their npower Loop Meadow Stadium.

Early-on, Didcot looked the most likely to open the scoring, with Paul Robinson bringing two brilliant diving saves from Boro keeper Nathan Ashmore.

At the other end, the hosts had a lucky escape when keeper Dean Santangelo brought down Liam Sewell in the box, but the referee ignored Gosport’s protests.

Didcot were punished for a piece of sloppy defending just before the break. Santangelo hesitated in coming to claim a cross and Sewell headed into the empty net.

Two minutes after the break, a brilliant piece of skill from Sewell saw him firing in Gosport’s second.

On the hour mark, Sewell claimed his and his side’s third goal. This time a bad bounce deceived Jamie Heapy on the edge of the Didcot box and Sewell poked home from 12 yards.

It was all over for Didcot when Brett Poate slammed home a blistering free-kick via the inside of the post from distance for 4-0.

Robinson should have clawed a goal back from the spot after Aaron Cooke handled, but he fired wide.

Alex Stanley and Sam Elkins went close, but by then the damage was already done.

Didcot Tn: Santangelo, Elkins, Halliday, Heapy, Peirson, Stanley, Howell (Faulkner 70), Mudge (Hill 50), Robinson, Odhiambo (Bayley 78), Davis. Subs not used: Beames, Turner.
