White Horse Harriers’ Jonathan Cornish was beaten into second place in the Didcot 5 on Saturday.
Competing in hot conditions, Cornish battled round the course in 26mins 47secs.
However, he was more than a minute behind the winner James Bolton, of Woodstock Harriers, who recorded an impressive 25.38.
The women’s race was won by Jessica Bruce, of Head-ington Roadrunners in 31.50.

Dan Hamilton, of Abingdon AC, came second in the third round of the Mota-Vation Series at Combe In the 3.9-mile race, he recorded 19.53, only ten seconds behind David Bruce (Oxford City).
Abingdon clubmate Owen Stepney came 11th overall and was second in the under 19 race with a time of 21.41.
Tim Hughes (White Horse Harriers) took the vet 60 honours in 23.38 on his first race of the season.
This year’s winner looks increasingly like being David Bruce, from Oxford, who made it three victories out of three.
