Abingdon had to settle for second place in both the men’s and ladies competitions in the Oxfordshire Veterans League.

At the end of a pulsating season, with Abingdon and Oxford vying for top spot in the men’s competition, it all went down to the wire at Tilsley Park on Monday.

It was Oxford, who came out top by 11 points on the night and they therefore took the league title by a solitary point.

In the women’s match, Radley had already secured title. Abingdon, though, pulled out all the stops to beat Radley by nine points on the night.
