ABINGDON veteran Duncan Talbot has marked his return from two years out injured by winning four golds and three silvers in a week.

Talbot opened up with a vet 60 high jump silver medal (1.40m) in the British Masters Champ-ionships at Birmingham.

He then excelled in the UK Civil Service Masters Championships at Woodside Stadium, Watford with four golds and two silvers.

Competing for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), Talbot won the high jump in 1.45m, which was a new vet 60 Southern Counties record.

He added golds in the triple jump (8.39m), long jump (3.97m) and 100m (15.05secs) – with all efforts at least Abingdon age group records.

Talbot completed his set with silvers in the 200m (30.50) and 4x100m relay.

Owen Stepney broke Abingdon’s 800m club record at the Watford Open.

Stepney clocked 1min 56.08secs to finish fourth in race 18.

Radley athletes secured three medals in the Under 15/17 South of England Track & Field Champion-ships at Crystal Palace.

Luisa Chantler Edmond led the way with a silver in the under 17 girls’ shot put, where she threw 12.83m to go 11th in the UK rankings.

She backed this up with a bronze in the discus after a personal best of 39.34m.

Clubmate Alice Hopkins beat her previous best distance three times during the day to take bronze in the under 17 girls’ long jump.

Hopkins’s mark of 5.53m was just 6cm short of silver and took her to 16th in the UK rankings.

Petrina Chantler Edm-ond set a new best of 4.63m to secure 17th place in the under 15 girls’ long jump.
