ATHLETICS: Jonathan Cornish clinches Oxford Mail Cross Country League title at Harwell

The White Horse Harriers athlete completed the 8,500m course in 30mins 8secs.

He finished just over 40 seconds behind winner Ben Cole, of Swindon Harriers.

Abingdon’s Paul Fernandez crossed in sixth place, helping him clinch the vet 40 title and, at the same time, guide Abingdon A to promotion by winning Division 2.

Meanwhile, Abingdon B also enjoyed success, achieving promotion from Division 3.

In the vet 50 event, Nigel Bunn, of Abingdon, came second overall, while White Horse Harrier Ian Lambourn took fourth.

Radley’s Alex Miell-Ingram was crowned under 20 champion, while Jack Shayler, of Abingdon, and Okan Onay, of White Horse Harriers, were second and third respectively in the under 17 category.

Henry Insley, of Radley, clinched third in the under 15 standings, while teammate Ben Cumberland finished fourth at Harwell as he came second overall in the under 13 event and helped his club win the team prize.

Radley's William D’Arcy clinched victory in the under 11 race as he finished second overall, while clubmates Quinn Miell-Ingram and Johnny James crossed second and fourth.

In the women’s event, Sarah Lackman was the best-placed south Oxfordshire club runner, finishing 11th and helping Abingdon win promotion to Division 1.

Radley A came first in Division 3.

White Horse Harrier Lucy Rycroft finished the campaign as runner-up in the under 17 league.

Rachel Burton and Martha Adams both came in the top ten in the under 15/17 race at Harwell as Radley won the overall team prize by six points.

In the under 13 event, Abingdon’s Beth Darwent was second, while clubmate Oscar Veal was runner-up in the under nine girls and boys.
