RADLEY AC shone in the first round of the Sweatshop Southern League to claim victory in Walton.

The club triumphed in the Division 2 West opener by an impressive 17 points from the hosts.

Ana Ramos-Vilaverde was among the top performers, improving her personal bests by five seconds in the B-string 400m hurdles and by ten seconds in the 2,000m steeplechase.

Sam Nelson set new times in the men’s A 400m (51.6secs) and 200m (23.8).

Other personal bests came from Faith Brew in the women’s B 400m (58.0), Emma Haley in the A 3,000m (10.40.1) as well as Rachel Burton in the A 2,000m steeplechase (7.50.4) and discus (26.30m).

Alex Miell Ingram set a mark of 16.09.4 in the men’s A 5,000m, while Brett Halsey leaped to 5.90m in the A long jump.

l ABINGDON’S ladies finished 24th out of 54 teams in the National Road Relays held at Sutton Park, Birmingham.
