Despite temperatures of 24C, White Horse Harriers’ Ian Lambourn (V55) and Lise Harrow (LV40) finished inside the top 100 in their age groups in the Virgin London Marathon.
Alex Mills posted a sub three-hour marathon with a time of 2hrs 58mins 55secs.
Helen Smyth, who finished in 4.41.42, said: “The support was awesome, from the crowds on Tower Bridge chanting my name to the man at 20 miles who handed me an orange segment and saved my race.”
Eight Abingdon AC members also took the streets of London and finished.
Peter Akrill crossed in 3.06.11 and Thomas Coney in 3.11.29.
At the other end of the scale, four Abingdon runners braved the rain and wind at the Boston Marathon in the United States.
Sarah Dudgeon was the first British female home in a time of 3.00.28.
Max Livingstone-Learmonth, Julian Moore and Richard Savage also finished.
