CHARAN Chahal's half-century was not enough to prevent Shrivenham from falling to their first defeat of the season in Division 1 of the OCA League.

Chahal (52) helped his side to 133 all out, but they were unable to stop leaders Charlbury creeping to 134-7 in reply.

Faringdon defeated visitors Oxenford by four wickets.

Three wickets apiece for Rob Owen (3-40) and Alex Robinshaw (3-53) saw Oxenford fall to 181 all out, and then Ian Oglesby (58), Will Oglesby (39) and Michael Hume (35) led Faringdon to 184-6.

Second-placed East & West Hendred maintained the pressure on Division 2 leaders Wolvercote with a two-wicket win at Witney Swifts.

Carl Palmer claimed 3-27 in Swifts’ 90 all out, and then Dom McKenna hit 31 not out to lead Hendred to 91-8.

Wantage eased to a six-wicket win at home to Clifton Hampden.

Barry Martin (4-28) and Ryan Martin (3-7) combined to bowl Clifton out for 118, Morley Benson hitting 53. David Spencer (43no) then led Wantage to 123-4.

In Division 3, Uffington won a thrilling match at home to Watlington by just three runs.

Uffington were struggling on 37-4 before Tom Fillery (97) and Charlie Harris (53) saw them to 215-9.

Chris Allen smashed boundaries galore in his 57, but Fillery completed a fine all-round performance, taking 4-43 as the visitors were bowled out just short on 212.

Kennington lost by four wickets against Bampton in Division 5 after being dismissed for 120.

Veteran Ivan Mulford scored 55 to help East & West Hendred 2nd to a 50-run win at home to Faringdon 2nd in Division 6.

Mulford hit 55 in Hendred’s 183-7, and Theo Hutt (4-57) and Miles Martin (3-21) then helped to dismiss the visitors for 133.

Glen Willett hit 85 not out to help Steventon to an 112-run win against visitors Radley 2nd.

Steventon set 147-7, and Lalit Chablani then claimed 6-11 as Radley were skittled for 62.

Chalgrove fell an agonising one run short of Division 8 leaders Stanton Harcourt 2nd.

Mark Brown took 4-29 as the pacesetters made just 82.

But Scott Hambridge struck back with 6-26 as Chalgrove fell for 81.

Richard Smith’s superb haul of 7-29 helped Sunningwell 2nd to a nine-run win at Eynsham 2nd.

Nathan Himpson hit 52 as Sunningwell crawled to 108-8 in 45 overs, before Smith’s magnificent seven saw Eynsham out for 99.
