FARINGDON’S Division 1 title hopes suffered a setback as they were edged out by 11 runs at Great Horwood.

Dale Armitage led the way for Horwood with 82 as his side posted 214-7, Ian Oglesby taking 4-45 for Faringdon.

Nigel Hume was in top form for the visitors, hitting a quickfire 86, but when he fell, wickets tumbled as Matt McStraw returned 5-45, Faringdon all out for 203.

Radley fell to a six-wicket defeat at home to Minster Lovell, who moved up to second place and cut Faringdon’s lead to 15 points.

Eddie Dunn (3-5), Connor Tinsley (3-14) and Leigh Smith (3-29) helped to restrict the hosts to 132 all out.

Archie Spittles then top-scored with 36 not out, including a six to win the game, as Minster eased home at 137-4.

Shrivenham’s title bid stayed on track after they saw off bottom side Chipping Norton by 40 runs.

Conor Taylor top-scored with 76 and Jagi Chahal hit 75 not out to help Shrivenham to 268-9.

Chippy were all out for 228, Dave Brassett scoring 54, as Jagi Chahal took 5-31 and Charan Chahal 3-57.

Division 2 leaders East & West Hendred saw off hosts Chadlington by three wickets in a game which had a mid-match interruption after an air ambulance landed on the field to deal with a nearby medical emergency.

Chadlington batted first and were restricted to 141-4 in their 45 overs, Mark Lambert top-scoring with 42 not out.

Youngster Andrew Francis then hit 42 and Jason Fisher 38 as Hendred reached 142-7.

Ben Tew fell two runs short of a century, but his consolation was a 91-run win for Wootton & Boars Hill at Marsh Gibbon.

Tew, Billy Webb (70) and Damien Wiskin (69) saw Wootton to a formidable total of 297-6.

Grant Cross (67) shone for the hosts, but Cam King’s 4-47 and 3-30 from Webb restricted them to 206-9.

Wantage won a thrilling game against visitors Cairns Fudge by one run.

Colin Mercer hit 54 as Wantage scrapped their way to 193 all out.

But, led by an outstanding 107 from Tom Small, Fudge were always in the hunt.

But when he was out, Wantage took the final two wickets with Fudge all out just one run short.

Clifton Hampden saw off visitors Witney Swifts by seven wickets.

Three wickets apiece for Darren Clark, Julian Hitchman and Matthew Burton helped to dismiss Swifts for 165, Josh Grant scoring 45 not out.

Morley Benson then hit 67 and David Pimm 42 not out as Clifton reached 167-3.

In Division 3, Marcham lost by ten wickets at Eynsham.

Ben Weller claimed 5-36 in Marcham’s 77 all out, and then Ben Smitten hit 40 not out to steer Eynsham home.

Uffington fell to a 94-run defeat at Minster Lovell in Division 4.

Youngster Jacob Mayers finished 100 not out as Minster posted 236-3 in their 45 overs.

Henry Crowther then claimed 5-27 in Uffington’s reply as they fell for 142.

Sam Baker hit a century for Sunningwell, but was on the losing side at West Ilsley in Division 4.

Baker smashed 102 and James Stacey 79 in Sunningwell’s 294-6, but 91 from Rob Lawson and 88 from Adam Barnes saw Ilsley to 297-6 and a four-wicket win.

Watlington saw off visitors Deddington by 47 runs.

Chris Allen top-scored with 57 in Watlington’s 191 all out, which was enough for victory as the visitors were restricted to 144-7 in reply.

Kennington kept up their Division 5 promotion bid after a 75-run win at home to Garsington.

Graham Rowley (64) and Jack Spencer-Matthews (49) led Kennington to 187 all out, and then Duncan Robson took 4-21 in Garsington’s 112 all out.

Britwell Salome were too strong for Charlbury 2nd as they ran out 81-run victors.

John Chittenden top-scored with 54 not out in Britwell’s 139-6, Paul Jenkins taking 4-43.

Charlbury found scoring even more difficult as they fell to 58 all out, Simon Blake claiming 3-15.

Shrivenham 2nd’s Scott Winskill achieved the extraordinary feat of his third successive league century as his side won by 45 runs at Faringdon 2nd in Division 6.

Winskill slammed 142 in Shrivenham’s 231-5, and then Faringdon fell for 186, Alan Johnson hitting 61 and Simon Cornish 51.

Second-placed Radley 2nd ended the perfect record of leaders Wolvercote 2nd with a 64-run victory at Radley College.

Davison Matthews hit 57 not out as Radley posted 177-9, Alastair Dent taking 5-16.

Shaheen Khan then returned figures of 5-25 as Wolvercote fell for 113 and their first defeat.

East & West Hendred 2nd brushed aside visitors Kidlington 2nd by 122 runs.

Miles Martin top-scored with 91 to steer his side to 257-7.

Septuagenarian Peter Baring then claimed 3-33 for Hendred as Kidlington were restricted to 135-9.

Steventon beat hosts Tetsworth 2nd by 88 runs.

Tom Cannon hit 51 in Steventon’s 148 all out, and then Tetsworth slumped to 60 all out as Chris Bennett took 4-31, Lalit Chablani 3-9 and Cannon 3-18.

Devendra Meena’s 5-11 helped Oxenford 2nd to a five-wicket win at home to Hanney.

The visitors were rolled over for 86, Oxenford easing home at 87-5.

In Division 7, excellent figures of 5-9 for Muhammad Aamir helped Yarnton & Cowley 2nd to a 112-run win at Uffington 2nd.

Faiz Idris hit 87 in Yarnton’s 176-7, before Aamir and Abdullah Saeed (4-18) combined to dismiss the hosts for 64.

Sunningwell 2nd beat fellow strugglers Marcham 2nd by six wickets in Division 8.

Ethan Davie top-scored with 77 in Marcham’s 216-5, before Colin Thorpe hit 89 not out and Nathan Himpson 60 as Sunningwell reached 220-4.
