MARK Baring claimed a five-wicket haul as East & West Hendred edged a thrilling OCA League Division 1 clash against visitors Faringdon.

Hendred slumped to 38-4 after 12 overs, but a great recovery saw them post 206-9 as Jon Francis hit 63 and Kashif Rashid 54, Mike Hume taking 4-31 and Ben Marks 3-59.

Faringdon’s reply was led by an excellent 88 not out from Ian McDowall and 47 from Nigel Hume, but with Baring taking 5-49, Hendred won by five runs with 11 balls left.

In Division 2, Wootton & Boars Hill made it three out of three after a 43-run win at Clifton Hampden.

Marc Glover’s 61 led the way for Wootton as they set 206-9, Julian Hitchman taking 5-54.

Morley Benson (65) led Clifton’s reply, but 4-22 from Matt Reed saw the hosts fall for 163.

Wantage picked up their first win as they edged past hosts Eynsham by three wickets.

The home side were all out for 150, before David Spencer (39) led Wantage’s reply as they edged in at 151-7.

In Division 3, Adam Shorten took 5-11 to help Uffington to a one-wicket win at Swinbrook.

The home side were dismissed for just 87, but Uffington were indebted to Andy Radcliffe’s 33 not out as they edged in at 92-9.

West Ilsley saw off visitors Dorchester by two wickets.

Dorchester posted 182-8, Connor Graney top-scoring with 51.

Wayne Lyford then struck 52 as Ilsley reached 185-8.

Radley defeated hosts Great Horwood 2nd by 148 runs in Division 5.

Rezwan Rana top-scored with 88 in Radley’s 214-6, before Naheem Ud Din claimed 4-7 as Horwood were all out for 66.

Mark Sizzey took 5-23 as Faringdon 2nd beat visitors Chipping Norton 2nd by 121 runs in Division 6.

East & West Hendred 2nd saw off hosts Kidlington 2nd by five runs.

Dom McKenna hit 79 in Hendred’s 200-9, before Theo Hutt took 3-46 as Kidlington were bowled out for 195.

l RADLEY have become the second team to fold in the OCA’s top flight.

Radley cited a lack of first-team standard players as their reason for withdrawing following a mass-exodus of players.

Radley will continue to field their second team in Division 5.
