LEFT-ARM spinner Paul White took 4-22 from ten overs to help Abingdon Vale to a four-wicket win against visitors Tiddington in Cherwell League Division 1.

Vale restricted Tiddington to 149-9 in their 50 overs, before making light work of the run chase.

Arthur Jones led the way with a superb 63, with Will Barker chipping in with a more sedate 32 as they comfortably reached 153-6.

Challow & Childrey’s first game back in the top flight ended in a heavy defeat at Great Brickhill.

Batting first, the home side posted 242-9 as Doug Aris hit 70, while Conor Jones took 4-45 for Challow.

In their reply, Challow fell for 165 as Garth Davson took 4-41, Tom Heath hitting 47 and Hugh Atkinson 44.

Didcot kicked off their Division 2 campaign with a seven-wicket win at Cropredy.

Jordan Morrison’s 4-46 helped to dismiss the home side for 138 in 43.2 overs.

And visitors Didcot made light work of their run chase, Vishane Perera hitting 55 to steer his side to 139-3 in the 25th over.

Abingdon Vale 2nd suffered a heavy defeat away to Tiddington 2nd in Division 4.

Vale were restricted to 161-9 in their 50 overs, Luke Maslen top-scoring with 33.

Matthew Maule (78) and Colin Bird (32no) then combined to lead Tiddington home at 162-2 in the 32nd over, helped by a woeful bowling display by Vale, who conceded 36 wides.

Didcot 2nd suffered an agonising two run defeat at home to Cropredy 2nd in Division 5.

The visitors posted 199-8 in their 50 overs, Joe Haynes top-scoring with 42. George Woodley was the pick of the bowlers with 3-40.

Kieran Beesley (45) and Luke Higgins (31) shone in Didcot’s reply, but they closed agonisingly short on 197-9.

Kingston Bagpuize racked up 263-6 as they beat hosts Cumnor 2nd by 92 runs.

Cumnor were held to 171-8 in their reply.
