CRICKET: House sets two Didcot records


Clive House hit a superb century as Didcot 4th rewrote the club record books in their drawn Cherwell League Division 10 clash against Bicester & North Oxford 4th.

House’s highest score of 123 formed part of a club record first-wicket stand of 218 with Rajat Sawhney (72).

It helped Didcot to a massive 304-4, which was a record league score for the club.

However, Didcot were unable to force victory as Bicester replied with 169-7.

House’s heroics formed part of a successful weekend for Didcot, whose three other teams won.

Vishane Perera Jnr took 5-15 as Didcot 2nd beat Dinton 3rd by five wickets in Division 8.

Perera’s spell reduced Dinton to 106 all out, before Dave Allen hit an unbeaten 56 to see Didcot home.

Evergreen Ricky Prescott (on the eve of his 49th birthday), scored a quick fire 45 not out to set up Wallingford 2nd's 38-run win over Twyford 2nd.

Wallingford amassed 182-6 as opener Mark Cox also weighed in with a patient 42.

The wickets were shared around with Shan Rahulan, Neil Smith and Prescott (2-0) all bagging braces, while Richard Hadland picked up 4-58 to dismiss the hosts for 144 Medium pacer Srikanta Sharma picked up a five-wicket haul as Didcot 3rd beat Witney Mills 2nd by eight wickets in Division 9.

Sharma took 5-25 as Mills were rolled over for 118, and then Prasad Kanka-dandi (65no) and Rob Kenworthy (35) steered Didcot to victory.
