Paul White took three wickets in an over as lowly Abingdon Vale gained a shock win over Challow & Childrey in Division 2 of the Oxford Times Cherwell League on Saturday.
Replying to Vale’s total of 151, Challow collapsed twice to 13-5 and then to 48-8 as left-armer White sent them spinning.
Justin Penrose (41) led a recovery of sorts, but Challow were eventually all out for 124 with White taking 5-22, and so suffered a surprise 27-run defeat.
Earlier, Dan King had hit 59 and Mike Cook 31 for Vale while Jimmy Phillips took 4-43 and Joe Harris 3-32.
Challow & Childrey 6pts, Abingdon Vale 25.
Marco Cecchini hit 109 to set Kingston Bagpuize on the way to a 22-run win over Buckingham Town 2nd in Division 3.
His ton came in Bagpuize’s 246 all out, with Matthew Thatcher (6-55) and Dominic Pritchard (4-51) starring.
Thatcher then top-scored with 65 and Mike Taylor hit 59, but Arthur Verdin took 5-33 and Ben Jefferis 3-55 as the hosts were all out for 224.
Buckingham Town 2nd 10pts, Kingston Bagpuize 25.
Challow & Childrey 2nd looked on course for a competitive total before Wallingford's Alan Bowman took 5-15 to reduce them to 153 all out in Division 5.
Nigel Hill (56) shone for Challow, but James Barrett (45) and Lee Ainsworth (44) steered the leaders to a six-wicket win.
Wallingford 25, Challow 2nd 6.
Abingdon Vale 2nd came within one wicket of clinching their first win at home to Banbury 3rd.
Graham Coates (83) starred in Vale's 218-9, while Jeremy Coles took 4-68.
Sam Ryan (74) and Coles (41) then had the visitors sniffing victory, but Danny Hartley (3-42) chipped away and they fell short on 193-9.
Banbury also suffered a five-point deduction.
Abingdon Vale 2nd 16, Banbury 3rd 6.
Richard Cook was undefeated on 58 as Division 6 leaders Didcot overcame a few wobbles to beat Thame Town 2nd by four wickets.
Thame had been dismissed for 120 with Ian Sinclair, Julian Hitchman and Matt Jones taking three wickets apiece.
