GREAT & Little Tew will play Challow & Childrey in the second round after both won their opening matches.

Tew enjoyed a comfortable five-wicket victory at Kidmore End, while Challow beat last year’s county finalists, Cumnor, by 14 runs.

However, it was hosts Cumnor who looked the favourites with ten overs remaining.

Ian Demain (49) and Steve Burry (31) starred as Challow managed what looked an under-par 167-8.

Carl Thompson, who claimed 3-33, was the pick of the Cumnor bowlers.

David Slade (4-44) took early wickets as Cumnor slipped from 50-2 to 60-6.

However, a 75-run partnership between Carl Thompson and Jamie Douglas, saw Cumnor become favourites.

They needed 45 off the final ten overs, but when Douglas fell, Olly Dimbelow took a couple of cheap wickets to finish with 3-21 as the hosts ended on 153.

Tew’s victory was more one-sided.

Bowling first, Tew took wickets at regular intervals to dismiss their opponents out for 133.

Despite losing openers Robbie Catling and David Powles cheaply, young trio Curtly Slatter, Robbie Shurmer and Matt Taylor steadied the ship to see Tew to victory with nine overs to spare.
