Oxford United training on a 3G pitch last month
PREPARATIONS for tomorrow’s game have not been disrupted by the freezing weather this week thanks to Oxford United’s access to high quality alternative training facilities.
Yesterday the squad trained on the 3G pitch at Oxford City’s Court Place Farm, while they have also had sessions in the indoor dome at the Oxford Academy in Sandy Lane.
In the past, frozen training pitches would have caused problems for sides, but United boss Chris Wilder did not have to make any changes to his planned session ahead of the meeting with Rotherham United.
He said: “The old astroturfs were pretty unforgiving, but the new 3G and 4G facilities that we can use are fantastic.
“You get quality as well as the work you want to put into it.
“We’ve done exactly what we would have done on a Thursday, some stuff on us and a little bit on the opposition.”
