FOOTBALL: Keeper injury hits Railwaymen
8:02pm Wednesday 23rd October 2013 in Football
Didcot Town's poor Calor League Division 1 South & West campaign continued with a 3-1 home defeat to fellow strugglers Evesham on Tuesday.
Their cause wasn't helped by losing leading scorer Pablo Haysham in the warm-up and then keeper Kieran Beesley early in the second half. With no substitute keeper defender Sam Elkins took over the gloves for almost the entire second half.
In appalling conditions the visitors who stormed into a two-goal lead within half an hour.
Carl Brown stabbed home from close range on 18 minutes and then Nathan Lewars capitalised on a blunder by keeper Beesley to double Evesham's lead.
After Beesley's withdrawal only some heroics from Elkins prevented the visitors from running way with it.
Luke Carnell gave the home supporters some hope by heading home a corner on 73 minutes to make it 2-1.
But Evesham had the final say when Lance Smith thumped the ball home in stoppage time to make it 3-1.
