MICHAEL Appleton is confident there will be no hangover for Oxford United from their midweek defeat as they head to Burton Albion today.
The U’s crashed to a 1-0 defeat in stoppage time at Accrington Stanley, who had lost their previous five games.
Appleton thinks the prospect of visiting a side in the automatic promotion places and on an excellent run of form will provide all the necessary motivation.
He said: “They’re joint top of the league and 12 games unbeaten, so I’d be very surprised if there’s a hangover going into a game like that.
Latest United news:
“It’s an opportunity to go and break a record I’m sure they’re pretty proud of.”
United have one enforced change to make, with Alex MacDonald unable to play as part of the terms from his deadline day transfer from Burton earlier this month.
George Baldock will start at right back, while fellow new signing Kemar Roofe may have to make do with a place on the bench.
It could see Danny Hylton pushed to the right and a central midfielder, potentially in the form of Andy Whing, brought in.
Johnny Mullins will play despite breaking his nose against Accrington.
Burton will be without striker Jacob Blyth (thigh) and Stefan Maletic (hamstring).
