North Leigh manager Mark Gee will have just 12 players to choose from for tonight’s Oxfordshire Senior Cup semi-final against Oxford United at Banbury’s Spencer Stadium (7.45).

Injuries and unavailability have severely depleted Gee’s squad, including former U’s players Aaron Woodley (hamstring) and Jamie Cook, who is absent due to involvement in a golf tournament.

Gee said: “Usually we would call up players from the reserves to supplement what we have.

“This season North Leigh United, our reserve side, entered the competition themselves, so they’re all ineligible.

“It leaves us with no-one to call upon. It’s been a nightmare.”

Despite that, Gee is looking forward to the chance to face a professional outfit.

“We’re playing the best team in the area and a professional club,” he said.

“We’ve obviously played them in friendlies plenty of times, but it’s totally different when you play a competitive game."

“They’re always very enjoyable games, played in the right spirit and we’re anticipating a good contest.”

United, who name their squad today, have no such selection concerns and are likely to give several first team players a run-out.

James Roberts, Jon Meades, Josh Ashby and Chey Dunkley are in line to feature.

That means the U’s will field a stronger side than the youthful line-up which beat Easington Sports 3-1 in the quarter-final last month.
