IN-FORM Danny Rose believes victory for Oxford United over York City today would effectively leave their relegation concerns behind, writes DAVID PRITCHARD.

The midfielder has been influential after returning to the side two games ago, helping the U’s collect six points from games against Wycombe Wanderers and Carlisle United.

If they could make it three league wins in a row for the first time since August 2013, it would take them to 52 points.

But Rose stressed there would be no letting up, particularly as the squad were still shy of hitting an unnamed points target set in February.

He said: “I think York would be the one where, if we won, it would open up a serious gap.

“It’s ten points now and results went our way (on Friday).

“We have a points total in mind and we’re not there yet.”

The starting line-up is expected to be refreshed, but Kemar Roofe is in no mood to take a break after netting brace on Good Friday to set up the 3-2 win at Wycombe.

A buzzing West Brom loanee admitted he wanted to play again on Saturday, so is keen to pick up against York where he left off at Adams Park.

He said: “It’s perfect to have another game so we can keep our momentum and confidence going."

“We are professionals so we should be able to deal with it.

“It’s just about recovering properly between the games.”
