Didcot Town scored four times in the final 18 minutes to hit back from 3-0 down and record a stunning 4-3 derby victory over hosts Wantage Town in an Emirates FA Cup preliminary-round thriller at Alfredian Park on Friday.

Wantage seemed to be cruising into the next round when leading their fellow Evo-Stik Southern League rivals with time running out.

But three goals in ten minutes brought the Railwaymen level and Jimmy Deabill scored their winning goal in the 92nd minute.

Sam Collier put the hosts ahead after 15 minutes and Stephen Davies made it 2-0 at the interval.

The game seemed over in the 54th minute when Adam Bruce added Wantage’s third from a tight angle.

Didcot started the fightback in the 72nd minute when former Wantage player Mark Janes scored from the penalty spot following handball.

Further goals from Deabill and Josh Dutton-Black brought them level.

Deabill won it at the death to earn Didcot a trip to Kent Ryman League side VCD Athletic in the first qualifying round on Saturday, September 12.
