TOMORROW’S clash with Oxford United will provide Accrington Stanley with an indication of their strength, according to boss John Coleman.

The home side are Sky Bet League Two’s surprise package so far and a run of four successive wins means only goal difference is keeping them outside the top three.

After victories in the past week against struggling Yeovil Town and Crawley Town, Coleman feels a clash with fellow high-fliers United will test Accrington’s credentials.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “There’s nothing handed out at this time of year.

“We’ve got to have a good October now.

“We’ve got another smashing home game coming up against a tough side in Oxford and that might be a measure of where we are in the league when we play them.

“We’re not daft enough to think that we’re going to win every game for the season, but we’ll certainly try.”

A return of 19 points from the opening ten games is Accrington’s best start since 1956/57, but Coleman thinks there is more to come.

He said: “We’ve got a good side with good players, but what we’ve got that we certainly can’t buy is hunger.”
