BERINSFIELD’S hopes of retaining their North Berks League Division 1 crown were left in tatters after being hammered 5-0 at fellow challengers Kintbury Rangers, writes PHIL ANNETS.

A hat-trick from Charlie Allsop and a Shaun Thorp double did the damage, leaving Berinsfield’s title hopes in the hands of others.

Abingdon Town remain in the chase with games in hand following their 2-1 home win over Faringdon Town.

They won it thanks to a Danny Cox strike and a Kieran Davies penalty either side of Martyn Gatehouse’s effort for the visitors.

Stanford in the Vale’s lead at the top of Division 2 was sliced to just two points following their 4-1 defeat away to title rivals Burghclere.

Christian Quick, Alex Smith, Curtis Angell and Josh Stockwell all scored for Burghclere, while Brad Gill hit the consolation for the visitors.

The result leaves Burghclere with fives games in hand to chase down Stanford’s two-point buffer.

Jon Green and Andy Cooper both scored for Steventon, who won 2-0 at home to Sutton Courtenay.

North Oxford won 8-2 at home to Grove Rangers in Division 3, courtesy of an Aaron Andrews hat-trick, a Jack Hinkin brace and goals from Dom Crowder, Aaron Williams and Steve Andrews.

Matt Hammond and Rich Bailey replied in vain for Grove.

Dorchester Res lifted themselves off bottom spot with a 3-3 draw at Uffington United.

Mark Jones, Pete Byrne and Garry Haines scored for Uffington, but Dorchester matched them through Matt Gilbert, Jordan Lyne and Lewis Aprea.
