FORMER Oxford United midfielder Scott Davies has agreed to join neighbours Oxford City ahead of their forthcoming Vanarama National League South campaign.
The 28-year-old spent two years with the U’s before being released at the end of the 2013/14 campaign and spent last season at City’s National League South rivals Wealdstone.
General manager Justin Merritt believes Davies could play a big role for his side next season.
He said: “He’s an excellent player for the level we’re at, he’s a good character and someone I’ve known for a very long time.
“I think he was a little unfortunate to have come out of the professional game.
“Scott’s aspirations are obviously to do as well as he can on the pitch, but I think he needs to get back to enjoying his football and hopefully he can do that here.
“He could be a big player for us and if we can get the right players around him he could play a big role here.
“We have a few key targets we want to get in place as soon as possible and Scott was central to that.”
