CHARLIE Lee struck twice to maintain Berinsfield’s winning run with a 3-1 home triumph over Stanford in the Vale, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

The North Berks League Division 1 leaders preserved their unbeaten record thanks to Lee’s brace and a David Murphy effort, with David Griffin replying for the visitors.

Second-placed Wallingford Town kept pace with the leaders, running out 3-0 victors over Long Wittenham Athletic.

Ashley Searle, Charlie Silkstone and Max Mohan-Triggle netted the decisive goals.

Ardington & Lockinge returned to the top of Division 3 with a 1-0 win at home to Saxton Rovers Res, courtesy of Ollie O’ Hanlon’s strike.

Kyle Carrigan scored the only goal to give Wallingford Town Res a 1-0 success at Uffington United.

Stuart Bithell struck twice as Stanford in the Vale Res beat Long Wittenham Athletic Res 5-1 to deny their opponents the opportunity to draw level with Division 4 leaders Blewbury.

Andy Munns, Ryan Bradley and Tyrun Mayall also netted for the hosts, with Ryan Scott scoring Athletic’s consolation.

North Oxford Res did take their opportunity to close in on top spot, claiming a 1-0 victory over Coleshill United thanks to a Fred Kamala goal.

Hagbourne United earned their first point of the season, picking up a 1-1 draw at Dorchester Res thanks to a Charlie Black goal.

The home side’s reply came via an own goal.

Paul Powell scored a hat-trick as Harwell Village claimed a place in the quarter-finals of the War Memorial Cup with a 4-1 triumph at Marcham.

Ross Tyler scored Harwell’s other goal, with Stuart Armstrong on target for the home side.

In the next round they will face North Oxford, who edged past Hungerford Town Swifts 4-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

Jack Hinkin and Dean Boyers scored for North Oxford, cancelling out Harry Way and Dee Rowswell efforts for the hosts.

Jordan Jones was Benson Lions’ hat-trick hero in their 4-1 victory over Cumnor Minors.

Alex Smallshaw also got himself on the scoresheet for the hosts, with an own goal the only blot on their afternoon.

Lions will next face Dorchester, who won 2-0 at Sutton Courtenay thanks to goals from Jordan Lyne and Miles Southon.
