THE Vale of White Horse Schools FA under 14 and under 13 squads both attended the Somerset Easter festival at Millfield School and returned with excellent records.

The under 13 team opened with a 6-0 victory against West Cornwall, with Freddie Kennedy getting a hat-trick, and Josh Hedges, Ryan Jones and Latham Hawkins (penalty) also scoring.

Vale then twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Derby, Josh Hedges scoring both goals, before again hitting back to beat Yeovil 2-1 with goals from Jones and Hedges (pen).

Kennedy and Hedges were on target in a 2-0 victory over Taunton, and a late equaliser from Guy Woolley enabled Vale to draw their final game 1-1 against Southampton as they finished with the best record in the tournament.

Hedges won the player of the festival award.

The under 14 side began with a 2-1 win against Derby, Billy Janes scoring both goals, but lost 2-0 to Plymouth, who finished the festival with a 100 per cent record.

Two goals from Kieran Sutton and one from Alex Harrison helped Vale beat Yeovil 3-2, before Sutton (2), Janes and Billy Clarke struck in a 4-2 victory over West Cornwall.

The final game resulted in a 3-0 win against Taunton with two more goals from Janes and one from Liam Hares.
