OXFORD United winger Rob Hall admitted one heckle from a Milton Keynes Dons fan made him smile during their midweek Checkatrade Trophy tie.

The 24-year-old was booed by many of the 101 travelling fans in the 4-3 defeat at the Kassam Stadium, just as he was singled out for attention when the sides met at Stadium MK in September.

It stems from Hall's move to United in 2016, when he was midway through recovering from a serious knee injury sustained while on loan with Dons.

They felt he had verbally agreed to return and underwent medical treatment at the club, before joining the U's.

Hall, who has scored in both meetings with his former side this season, was unfazed by the boos - and laughed off one fan's shout in particular.

He said: "The fans don’t really know the full story, so I don’t listen to them too much.

"But I did hear a few comments on Tuesday that I had a chuckle about.

"One of them said ‘give us our knee back’ - I just had to laugh at it really.

"If they keep booing then they keep booing, but so far I’ve been scoring and doing well against them, so they can keep booing if they want."
