PEP Clotet has called for a big effort from Oxford United’s supporters tonight as they host Blackburn Rovers.

Tony Mowbray’s side are beginning to gather momentum in their bid to bounce straight back from relegation.

And Clotet believes the difference in size between the clubs makes the clash similar to a cup tie.

United’s manager said: “They are a clear Championship club and are a lot of years in front of us.

“It’s a team that will compete for the top two or top part of the play-offs.

“We will take the fight to them and go forward to try to win against a Championship club at home.

“I cannot lie. We need the full support of the fans, like they did in the last home game, to get something out of a really tough match.”

Despite Blackburn's strength, Clotet has no intention of changing the way his side will approach the game.

He said: "We try to play the same football home and away and always build something.

"We will try to play our football and in the last games we have become one of the teams in the league who have had the highest possession.

"We used it very well on Saturday to create problems (and beat Plymouth Argyle 4-0).

"Tonight I think it will be very even. I think Blackburn are very strong going forward and defend really well.

"It’s very important we don’t make mistakes in our own half and dominate the second balls because they establish good counter-attacks from that.

"The key will be making sure their strengths don’t meet with their weaknesses."

United have no injury worries, while Corry Evans is back from a ban for Rovers.
