WE welcome Blackpool to Grenoble Road this afternoon and would love to build on last Monday’s victory over MK Dons with another home triumph.

We haven’t won back-to-back games here all season and have only managed it home and away once, so that is something we certainly need to rectify.

I thought we fully deserved our victory on New Year’s Day after we got on the front foot in the early stages and took a deserved lead through Wes Thomas.

We then showed a little bit of character to regain the lead after they equalised and then in the second half, I felt relatively comfortable we would win, especially after Jon Obika made it 3-1.

It was good to see Jon, Wes and Gino van Kessel get the goals, because we have a lot of confidence in our attacking players to score against any opposition.

People have talked about the switch we have made to a more traditional 4-4-2 for the last couple of matches.

I suppose it is the shape that most fans feel familiar and comfortable with.

Indeed, most players in this country have grown up with that formation, so everyone understands it.

It has maybe gone out of fashion over the last couple of years.

But I see more and more teams using it again, because when two strikers get an understanding and work together it can be very difficult to defend against.

There may always be changes, but our philosophy remains the same.

I think the biggest thing to remember is you need to be flexible.

It is not possible to only have one way of playing.

You need to adapt, even within games, and I think we have a good balance of players here to enable us to change to the formation and way of playing that we believe is right at any moment.

We may look to add to that blend with a few new faces during the transfer window and this week we saw Rob Dickie arrive from Reading.

It is rare to find a defender who has over 100 senior, competitive games at just 21 and we believe he has a very bright future.

There were a few other clubs looking at him, so we were delighted when he chose to sign for us.

As I write, we are working hard to bring other new players in as well.

But without losing focus of the fact we have a big game against Blackpool to prepare for, and hopefully win, today.

I hope to see as many of you as possible there to support us.

I WAS happy to hear about the family away day which will be happening next Saturday.

The club has joined with Liontrust and OxVox to provide free transport for young fans to our game at Walsall.

What a fantastic way to get young fans involved.

It is one of the shorter journeys of the season and I am sure will make for a fantastic atmosphere.

We rightly pride ourselves on being a family club and it is events like this that make memories and create fans for life.
