OXFORD United are in sight of the 50-point mark, but skipper John Mousinho does not believe it is a case of ‘win or bust’ this week.

Karl Robinson’s side began their hat-trick of home games with a goalless draw against Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

Tonight’s visitors are Fleetwood Town, who have accelerated out of trouble in Sky Bet League One in recent weeks.

While United are one win away from hitting the symbolic milestone of 50 points, Mousinho rejected the suggestion they had to win either tonight, or against Southend United on Saturday.

“No, not at all,” he said.

“We definitely want to, we just have to make sure that come the last game of the season we have enough points to stay up.

“Say we draw both games this week, we’re not going to be sitting there on Saturday night saying ‘we’re relegated now, we’re done for’.

“We’re not going to put ourselves under that pressure, but we’ll look at it and think we’ve got a right chance of winning the game.

“The best way to do it is play with a bit of discipline.

“Going gung-ho this early in the run-in is probably the wrong decision.”

Robinson’s main headache since taking charge last month has been in attacking areas, where creating – and taking – chances has proved difficult.

So while it may not be a night for all-out attack, the head coach wants to see players taking more risks around the Fleetwood penalty area.

He said: “If you don’t put a cross into the box or have a shot you’re never going to have that unpredictability in the final third.

“We do look good in two of the three thirds and once we get to the final third we’re expecting a little bit more quality.

“They’re just going through a time at the moment where things aren’t dropping for them.

“Hopefully with perseverance and energy that will come.”
