Burnell joins Exeter


JOE Burnell, who had his Oxford United contract cancelled by mutual consent last week, has joined League One side Exeter.

The midfielder had a trial at Paul Tisdale's side towards the end of last season.

It begs the question if league one side signs a conference player that has been told he as no future at that Conference side. It means either of three things A) The Player did not show enough ambition at the Conference club for the manager to want to retain him. B) The League One side are not that ambitious or C) The Conference Team are very ambitious.
From what has gone on in the closed season I would suggest that it is the later.
I think Exeter have reached as high as they are likely to get with their limited resourses and the club realise that.

or D) the manager sees football as a team game, and sometimes certain players do not fit into a team (tactics, strengths, etc.), even if they have a better attitude and skills than others who do.
