Milton United’s Ross Tyler suffered a double fracture of the jaw in an off-the-ball incident aga-inst Henley Town on Saturday.

It happened in the second-half of their Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East match at The Heights.

No mention of the incident was made by the referee in his report and Milton’s match secretary, Craig Selby, said the club would not be pressing charges.

Tyler went to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where he underwent surgery to insert metal plates.

Selby said that Tyler is expected to be out of action for between ten and 12 weeks.

Milton won the match 3-0 with goals from Patrick Howe, Robert Joyce and Daniel Cox-Rogers, which put them up to third in the table.

Henley were reduced to ten men when Brett Rann was sent off in the second half for collecting a second yellow card.

The victory was dedicated to manager Paul Bedwell’s young daughter who was in hopsital after suffering a head injury in a fall.

So assistant manager Marcus Brown stepped in to take charge of the team in his absence.

Brown said the players, management and staff would be holding a charity event to raise funds for the injured Tyler.

“Milton are insured for this sort of incident with the Hellenic League, but he’s going to be off work for several weeks.

“He’s a nice lad and we wanted to do somtheing to help.”

He added: “We’re not happy with what happened, but we’re not like that at Milton. We won’t be pressing charges.”

Abingdon United’s woes at the foot of the Premier Division increased as they went down to their ninth defeat in a row with a 3-0 reverse at Kidlington.

Ben Fitzmartin, Michael Duerden and Tom Castle netted for the hosts.

Josh Fowler scored a last-minute leveller as Shriv-enham drew 4-4 at home to Brimscombe & Thrupp.
