Abingdon Town, still seeking their first win in the Uhlsport Hellenic League, en-joyed a lift with a 3-1 home victory over Hook Norton in the second qualifying round of the FA Carlsberg Vase on Saturday, All the goals came in the second half, with Gavin Jones firing Premier Division Town ahead after 56 minutes.
Henry Rose equalised for the Division 1 West visitors after 70 minutes.
But Jack Rowe restored Town’s lead only seven minutes from time and Drew Fowler sealed victory at the death.
Abingdon’s reward is an attractive first-round derby away to Premier Division high-fliers Wantage Town on Saturday, October 19.
Wantage had a bye into this round.
Also through are Milton United, whose 1-0 home win over Bedfont Sports, of the Combined Counties League came courtesy of Roy Joyce’s strike on the half-hour.
In the next round Milton travel to Hellenic League Premier Division leaders Reading Town Shrivenham slumped to a 3-0 defeat ate Premier Division rivals Brims-combe & Thrupp.
Adam Price, Ben Prictor and Ashley Caldwell did the damage for the home side.
